Or for a delicious sweet treat, spoil the one you love this Valentine’s Day by baking a batch of our pretty, homemade Valentine’s Chocolate Cupcakes – delicious and chocolatey and guaranteed to impress!

For the cakes:

  • 100g Butter, at room temperature

  • 100g Caster sugar

  • 100g Self raising flour, sieved

  • 1 tsp Baking powder

  • 25g Cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp Syrup

  • 3 tsp Hot water

  • 2 Eggs, medium free-range

For the frosting:

  • 100g Butter, at room temperature

  • 200g Icing sugar

  • 40g Cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

  • 3-4 tbsp Hot milk

  • Cream the butter, caster sugar, cocoa powder, syrup and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, and fold in the sifted flour and baking powder. Lastly add the hot water and mix well.

  • Spoon the mixture into cupcake cases – half fill only to allow room to rise. Bake the cakes at 190 deg. C for about 15 minutes, or until the cakes are well risen and spring back when pressed gently in the centre.

  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.

  • To make the frosting, beat the butter, cocoa powder, vanilla extract and hot milk together. Add the icing sugar a little at a time until smooth & evenly blended.

  • Spoon the icing into an icing bag fitted with a small star nozzle. Decorate each cake with a swirl of icing then finish with mini chocolate hearts or sprinkles.

If you’re planning a romantic dinner with the one you love, we can highly recommend our delightful White Chocolate & Raspberry Cheesecake – a delicious dessert that tastes as good as it looks!

For the base:

  • 1 pack Dean’s Golden Syrup Biscuits, crumbed

  • 50g butter

  • 25g white chocolate

For the filling:

  • 200g full fat soft cream cheese

  • 200mls double cream

  • 175g white chocolate, broken into pieces

  • 150g raspberries

  • 75g Greek style natural yogurt

  • 1 tbsp caster sugar

  • Start by preparing the base – melt the butter and white chocolate together then add the biscuit crumbs. Mix well then tip into a 20cm springform cake tin and press evenly into the base. Place in the fridge to chill.

  • Make a raspberry puree by sieving 40g of the raspberries into a small saucepan – add the sugar and heat until the sugar has melted. Leave to cool.

  • Heat 50mls of the double cream in a pan – do not boil. Add the white chocolate and stir until melted and evenly combined.

  • Whisk the cream cheese and yogurt together until smooth. Add the remaining cream to the cheese mixture and mix well, finally fold in the chocolate mixture.

  • Keeping a few raspberries for decoration, sprinkle the rest onto the chilled cheesecake base. Pour over the filling and smooth the top

  • Drop spots of the raspberry puree onto the cheesecake, then gently drag a cocktail stick through each droplet to form a heart shape.

  • Place in the fridge for at least 6 hours, or overnight to chill, then serve in small wedges decorated with the remaining raspberries

However you choose to celebrate, we hope you enjoy your Valentine’s Day spent with your loved ones.
