If you have been following the Dean’s Blog or the Facebook Page you will already know that Dean’s, has chosen to support Marie Curie Cancer Care. Throughout 2011 we will be undertaking a number of different events and activities in order to support the charity which provides free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes or in hospices located throughout the UK.
As part of this support, Dean’s are donating 500 cases of shortbread for Marie Curie’s Blooming Great Tea Party campaign which encourages people to hold a tea party from 12th June until 12th July to help raise funds for the charity.
Announcing the move Les McArthur, operations director of Dean’s, and who is co-ordinating the various activities said: “We are delighted to be supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care throughout this year. This donation of shortbread is only one of the many ways Dean’s are getting involved with the charity. At the end of July a group of eight staff from Dean’s, myself included, will be undertaking the Glen Coe and Devils Staircase Mountain Challenge as the Dean’s Activ8 team and fundraising for this is well underway.” In addition, since the 31st March 2011 Dean’s has also been donating 5p from every £1 spent in our on-line shop www.deans-shortbread.co.uk, to Marie Curie and this will continue until 31st October.
