It’s been a busy time over the last two weeks at Dean’s. We have been to the Middle East to attend Gulfood in Dubai to find potential new distributors for our range and, to meet some of the existing customers we have in the Middle East. The exhibition was extremely encouraging and we managed to get new leads from various countries including: Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait, India, Lebanon, Qatar, Israel, South Africa, Cyprus, Egypt, Malaysia, Iraq, Nepal, Singapore and Kenya. We are looking forward to following up these leads and extending our markets overseas.

Finding new leads was only one aspect of the trip; we also met with existing distributors and were able to pass on some leads to them, primarily from independent high quality hotels. We look forward to increased sales with our distributors who all report a very favourable response to our range.

Dean’s attended the exhibition in Dubai as part of a Scottish Pavilion along with 9 other companies and it’s encouraging to note that all of them reported a very positive response to Scottish businesses and Scottish products.

On the Monday night we attended a Scottish Dinner at the World famous Jumeirah Beach Hotel along with around 100 people including exhibitors, trade customers and other Global Scots. As we watched out to the silhouette of the spectacular Burj Al Arab, it was especially heartening to see Dean’s products on the tables along with other Scottish produce, Helen Dean would surely have been proud to see how well respected her recipe has become on a global stage.

On Tuesday night our hospitality was returned by the Chairman of Al Maya Supermarket who invited around 300 people to his house for a special reception in the gardens. We were particularly impressed with the kindness shown to us and the general appreciation of the Dean’s product range, we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with many of the people we met during the trip.

We will be bringing you some more information about the trip and perhaps some video clips taken while were there. We will also use the blog to keep you up to date with what’s happening as a result of the trip; hopefully reporting on lots of new business as people find out about Dean’s in the East!
