Scheduled for June 2014, the Dean’s Scottish Clans Golf World Championship is expected to attract visitors from around the world to the ‘home of golf’.
This is a completely new event, but it was great to see it featured in Executive Golfer, a US magazine, published bimonthly for America’s private golf club members, alongside an article on Platinum Golf Scotland, the luxury tour operator organising this exciting event.
Open to immediate ex pat Scots and 1st, 2nd, 3rd generation Scots who are affiliated to a Scottish Clan through their ancestry, it will take place over some of Scotland’s finest courses, including Kingsbarns and host of the 2014 Ryder Cup; The PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles.
In addition to competing in the tournament, participants and their families will enjoy some of the finest examples of Scotland’s heritage, culture and hospitality, and there will also be the opportunity to dine on Scottish food and drink such as haggis and whisky, and of course, Dean’s traditional Scottish shortbread.
For those participants who wish to discover more about their ancestral roots, the event will also provide an opportunity to speak with genealogy experts.
And at the end of the fun week, one lucky golfer will take home the crown of ‘Dean’s Scottish Clans Golf World Champion’.
