Last week we brought you news about our recent trip to the Dubai for the Gulfood Trade Show and we’re pleased to report many of the contacts we made at the show are showing great interest in our range. Bill Dean, Managing Director at Dean’s stayed on for a few days to meet with distributors in the region and visit some of the retail outlets stocking Dean’s products. We are pleased to report that Bill has returned safely from Manama, Bahrain following the most recent outbreak of trouble last Sunday 13th March.

Bill did manage to finish all of his business in Dubai and Bahrain where he visited many of the retail oulets stocking Dean’s. His guide for the trip was Sankaran Kutty, acting Sales Manager for the Dean’s importer, AKD Tattan who took him to visit stores such as: Le Marche, Lastchance, Military Store, Al Jazira, Aswaq Alhelli, Ansar Gallery, Lebanon Trade Centre, Ramez, Al Osra and Carrefour. It’s important to visit these regions and get an understanding of the market, witness how the product is merchandised and, cement relationships with our customers.

During the various visits to the retail outlets we were particularly encouraged to see there is a demand for the full range of products and most of the stores are reporting great sales and a keen interest in Dean’s. Below you will see some pictures taken in some of the stores we visited; the products do seem to be getting good positions which is generally an indication that the retailers consider it an attractive proposition.

The trip was made much easier having Sankaran Kutty alongside and it really highlights the need to create good relationships with local importers. This was highlighted on the final day of Bill’s trip (13th March when the troubles broke out again) when Sankaran used his extensive local knowledge to get him to the airport and off safely. We hope the troubles are resolved quickly and peacefully and that our relationship with retailers in the region continues to grow. We will keep you posted from time to time about how things are going in our foreign markets.
